Sunset Society is a unique opportunity for middle and high school students who are looking for a safe place of acceptance to learn, grow, and empower themselves to be the best they can be. As a place of solitude for
at-risk and neurodivergent teens and preteens we strive to give sunset society members a place of leadership, acceptance, friendship, accountability, opportunities and most importantly, unconditional love.
On Monday nights we hang out, do evening feeding for all 200+ animals, eat dinner and then break into smaller groups where we dive deeper into life skills, social emotional learning, animal care, child development and so much more. Each sunset society members experience is unique, tailored to what they are looking for and needing from our space.
Sunset Society members serve on Saturday mornings as leaders with our healing hearts animal care program participants, as mentors to special needs children who come to us looking for acceptance and hope.
Because of the leadership opportunities, vulnerable topics discussed, and out of respect for making this a safe and secure place for all of our members and animals sunset society requires a commitment. Monday nights with a drop off between 4:30-5:30 and pick up at 8:30, and then at least 50% of Saturday mornings a month from 9:30-12. We also ask that you commitment to at least 50% of our public days.
Within the program you will get the hands on chance to learn from a veterinarian, a dog trainer, an art therapist, an animal care specialist and professionals that specialize in special needs.
Parents, don't fret about homework getting done. Students are welcome to bring any assignments along with them during Sunset Society!
Out of respect and privacy for the group,
we ask that all members refrain from texting or using social media during the event.
This program is free however any donations are greatly appreciated beyond words.
Hear from the kids below why
Sunset Society is so important to them.
